President Kaler Is Coming to Campus

University of Minnesota President Eric Kaler will visit Morris on Monday, February 20. There will be two opportunities for campus community to meet him:

  • 1:45 p.m: open office hour for students at the LaFave House—a chance for students to arrange 10-minute appointments to speak with President Kaler
  • 3 p.m.: open meeting for the campus community in the Science Auditorium


Eckerle Elected Vice President of the Society for the Study of Early Modern Women

Julie Eckerle, professor of English, has been elected vice president of the Society for the Study of Early Modern Women. Eckerle will serve for two years in this position before stepping into the president's role for two additional years. The Society for the Study of Early Modern Women is an interdisciplinary and international network of scholars devoted to the study of women, representations of women, and the role of gender in the early modern world.

Schneiderman ’11 Receives Award for Doctoral Thesis Excellence

Deborah Schneiderman '11 has received the 2016 Award for Doctoral Thesis Excellence, which honors outstanding University of Minnesota Department of Chemistry graduate students for their doctoral thesis research. Schneiderman is a post-doctoral scholar in the Institute for Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago. Her research is focused on liquid crystalline elastomers and dynamic covalent networks.

Refsnider ’04 featured in Earth Magazine

Kurt Refsnider '04 is featured in Earth magazine's "Down to Earth With: Mountain biking geologist Kurt Refsnider." Refsnider is a geologist in the Environmental Studies and Sustainability program at Prescott College in Prescott, Arizona, where he teaches the popular course Geology Through Bikepacking.
