University of Minnesota Morris student leaders were honored at the annual Student Leadership Awards on Wednesday, May 1. These outstanding students demonstrate what's best about the UMN Morris experience.

Student Award Recipients

2019 Outstanding Student Organization Award
Black Student Union (BSU)

From the award program: "An organization with a long history at UMN Morris, BSU has had a particularly active, engaged, and successful year.For their impact in fostering intercultural learning, we present the Outstanding Student Organization Award to the Black Student Union."

2019 Outstanding UMM Student Leadership Awards
Erin Wilaby '19, environmental science

Erin Wilaby

From the award program: "Noted among their peers for the number of campus events they attend, this student is also a strong leader who will leave behind a significant legacy. Through their leadership they've brought new music to the campus and helped students escape campus to better connect with the outdoors."

Mia King '19, biology, psychology

Mia King

From the award program: "An outstanding scholar and leader who is steadfast in their beliefs and grounded in their will to act on what is right for themselves and their peers, this recipient is recognized for having an impact across the campus. They are a great example of a truly engaged student."

Esmira Alieva '19, management: financial and organizational management, economics

Esmira Alieva

From the award program: "This student leader is a bridge builder. This leader has found ways to foster conversations between differing groups on campus, focusing on common goals and finding ways to collaborate."
