Two University of Minnesota Morris faculty members received awards in the spring 2019 grant round of the University of Minnesota Grant-in-Aid of Research, Artistry, and Scholarship program (GIA).

Based on the belief that faculty research, scholarly, and artistic efforts encourage academic excellence throughout the institution, the Office of the Vice President for Research administers the awards, which act as seed money for developing projects to the point of attracting more complete, external funding.

Spring 2019 Morris Campus Recipients and Projects:

Emily Bruce, assistant professor of history

Siblings on the Move: German, Irish, and French Canadian Families, 1840-1930

$33,946

Robert Denton, assistant professor of biology

The frequency and fate of genome theft by an all-female species

$38,833
